    Reasons for replacing the hose:

    1. Full or partial deformation

    2. Condensate formation

    3. Traces of brake fluid leakage

    4. Increased braking distance

1 Unscrew the tube from the brake cylinder or caliper (right brake tube or left brake tube)

    2 Making a canal incision

3 Remove the damaged part of the product

4 Degrease the edge with gasoline

5 Clamp the hose tightly with pliers. The edge of the hose should extend 0.5 cm

6 Deburr the chamfer. Remove chips at the end of the work

7 Install the fitting on the tube

8 The edge of the hose is placed in a special fixture. Next, the reaming is carried out.

    Reasons to Replace Brake Hoses

Proper vehicle maintenance includes inspecting the brake system components, which helps identify issues early and fix them promptly. During regular inspections and use, a driver might notice signs that it’s time to replace the front or rear brake hose at a service center. These signs include:

    • Cracks, tears in the hose, or material delamination

    • Reduced flexibility, poor bending ability

    • Partial or complete deformation of the hose

    • Compromised integrity of the line or leaky connections

    • Condensation or visible brake fluid leaks

Driving with a faulty braking system is dangerous. At the first sign of trouble, you should visit a service station for inspection, repair, or replacement of the damaged parts.

The recommended interval for checking the brake hose condition is every 50,000 km. Under normal driving conditions without excessive load, the hose can remain effective for up to 100,000 km. Its average service life is around 5 years, provided there are no defects or damages during use.

Factors That Shorten Brake Hose Lifespan

    • Low temperatures. Moisture that penetrates the material freezes and expands, forming crystals that damage the hose from the inside. Cracks form, leading to brake fluid leaks.
    • Mechanical wear. Frequent bending and flexing during turns cause fatigue and wear.

    • Corrosion of metal parts. If the vehicle is stored outdoors or in humid environments, metal components oxidize and corrode.

    • Brake fluid contamination. Solid micro-particles accumulate inside the hose, reducing fluid flow. This increases pressure during braking, which may rupture the hose.

Brake hoses must be replaced during maintenance, in case of fluid leaks, or when the system loses pressure. If any warning signs appear, seek professional diagnostics and repairs immediately — this helps prevent major failures and dangerous situations.

If you discover a crack in your brake hose, it must be replaced — it cannot be repaired. This type of damage is considered serious and poses a risk to both the driver and others on the road.

    What Is a Brake Hose?

A brake hose is a mechanical component of the braking system. It is a rubber tube designed to carry brake fluid to the pads and calipers. Subject to high pressure during braking, it is a wear-and-tear part that eventually degrades, affecting braking efficiency.

Brake hoses vary in price depending on several factors. When choosing one, consider:

    • Hose length (measured in millimeters; depends on your car’s specifications)

    • Fitting type (the internal thread size, also in mm)

    • Manufacturer brand (quality depends significantly on the brand)

    • Mounting side (since each wheel has its own hose, it’s important to know if it’s for the front or rear axle)

    • Make, model, and year of the vehicle — critical when ordering online or from parts suppliers, especially if you don’t have the license plate number

A properly functioning braking system requires high-quality hoses. Brake hoses play a vital role in ensuring driver and passenger safety. Checking them regularly for damage is crucial — because any brake fluid leak makes a safe and quick stop impossible, increasing the risk of an accident.

The car had a slight "failure" of the brake pedal. I came for repairs, the technicians showed me the old hose, explained the problem and replaced it. Now the pedal is firm, braking is precise.
