Installing headlights on modernized cars, as well as replacing the bulbs used in them, is one of the most popular services when installing additional equipment. Many drivers prefer to replace traditional halogen bulbs with LED and xenon bulbs, which provide better lighting in poor visibility conditions.

It is also practiced to install lights on cars belonging to the class of pickup trucks and SUVs, which are operated mainly outside the city. In the absence of external lighting, additional light sources are very important, which improve visibility and ensure safety when driving.

Installing additional equipment – what to remember

Virtually no modifications to the front and rear headlights, as well as dimensions are permitted by the rules, so any “eyebrows”, “eyelashes” or tinted rear lights are illegal. This, in turn, means that the car may lose not only the technical passport during the inspection, but also the right to further operation.

Most often, when modifying a car, drivers forget that the tire should not protrude beyond the contours of the car (wings). Therefore, it is not allowed to use tires that are too wide that the manufacturer did not provide for in the car.

It is also important to remember that on the same axle you cannot use tires of different designs (including with different tread patterns) and tires whose indicators show maximum tread wear (for tires not equipped with such indicators – less than 1.6 mm).

Modifying the car interior

It is not only tuning enthusiasts who like to modify the interior of their car. Replacing the steering wheel with a car, seats and seat belts are very popular services in tuning studios. In this case, the new elements must have a special certificate confirming their safe use in public vehicles.

You can find many elements of automotive equipment that do not have the necessary approval mark, but are quite cheap. Unfortunately, in this case, you should not save. By buying cheap seat belts, we are guaranteed to get problems during technical inspection and risk our own health and life.

Installing a safety cage

People involved in motorsports often install safety cages in the car interior. The modification is theoretically permissible, but in practice it is difficult to fulfill all the requirements of the law. It is necessary to ensure that the driver has a sufficient field of vision, and the cage itself does not have sharp edges that can cause injury.

Installation of a “kenguryatnik”

Front arches used to protect a car from frontal damage can only be installed on cars for which they have been approved. The requirement does not apply to products weighing less than 0.5 kg that are intended to protect headlights.

Glass tinting

Tinted glass in a car improves comfort during a trip. However, it is worth remembering that the windshield is one of the many elements of a vehicle that has undergone the approval procedure, so its parameters cannot be changed voluntarily.

According to the regulations, the windshield and front side windows must transmit at least 70 percent of light, and since they are usually close to this threshold from the factory, any modifications, including tinting, are not allowed. Therefore, we can safely use dark films only on the rear window of the car.
