Why brake discs are needed
Brake discs are one of the most important parts of a car’s braking system. They play a key role in safety and speed control while driving. The main task of the brake discs is to convert the kinetic energy of the car into thermal energy, with the help of which the car slows down or stops completely.
Brake discs, like any other car parts, are subject to wear and excessive heat over time. Wear can be caused by various factors, such as heavy braking, increased load, aggressive driving style or poor quality of the disc material. Signs of brake disc failure may include vibration or judder when braking, long braking distances, unusual noises, or increased brake pad wear.
Brake disc resurfacing is a procedure that allows you to restore the working surface of the discs, eliminate irregularities and return optimal grip to the brake pads. Signs that indicate the need for regrooving of discs may include vibration when braking or the presence of deep scratches and scratches on the surface of the disc. Also, if the brake discs are overheating or the brake pads are slipping, this may be a signal that regrooving is needed.
Grooving brake discs has a number of important advantages. Firstly, it allows you to restore the contact plane between the disc and pads, which provides better grip and braking system efficiency. Secondly, the groove helps to eliminate vibration and shaking when braking, which improves driving comfort and safety on the road. In addition, disc resurfacing increases disc life by eliminating surface imperfections that can lead to rapid wear of brake pads.

The process of turning brake discs is carried out with special equipment in a car service. First, the disk is removed from the car and installed on the machine for turning. Then a special cutting tool is used that removes a thin layer of metal from the working surface of the disc. During the groove, irregularities, scratches and risks are corrected in order to restore the plane of contact with the brake pads. It is important to note that the groove is carried out taking into account certain technical requirements in order to maintain the required thickness of the disk and prevent its deformation.
After the turning process is completed, the discs can be subjected to additional processing, such as balancing, to ensure even distribution of the braking load. After that, the discs are installed back on the car and the brake system is checked for performance.
It is important to note that turning brake discs is a procedure that must be carried out at regular intervals or as needed. Regrooving frequency recommendations may vary depending on vehicle type, driving style and operating conditions. Regular maintenance of the brake system, including regrooving of the discs, will help maintain its performance, ensuring safety and driving comfort.
As a result, the groove of the brake discs is an important procedure that allows you to restore and maintain the performance of the brake system of the car. Timely contacting specialists and carrying out disc grinding will help prevent the negative consequences of a brake system malfunction, ensuring safety and reliability on the road.
